Year 3 swimming

July 13, 2010

Year 3  have been  swimming since Easter. Today was play week as last week was the last week for lessons and we got our badges. We played with the balls, turtle floats and the sausages we had a great time. Miss Vrettos wants us to swim as much as we can in the summer. We have thought of some great reasons:

 1. When it’s a hot day go swimming and cool down.

2.It’s good excercise.

3.It  improves your water sports skills ready for y4.

4.You will become a better swimmer.

Our script writing project has almost come to an end! After weeks of hard work, we have created characters, a narrative with a beginning, middle and an end and in our cooperative groups, we have written scripts to be performed as a play.

We will be sharing our writing by performing the plays for Year 3 parents on Thursday afternoon, 2pm-3-15. We hope that you can make it!

Drama in 3AV

June 28, 2010

3AV  have been doing drama with Josh who we met at the Rep Theatre on our school trip. Josh had some ideas of doing a play in our co-operative groups and making scripts to perform in front of  the school. We have been practising  since Easter and so far it is going  well. It’s Josh’es last day with 3AV on Wednesday and we will be showing our productions. By Nadia and Ramisa.

The Nutty Professor

June 11, 2010

Today, Year 3 had a blast learning more about the Ancient Greeks with Professor McGinty. He was a little bit mad, a little bit  silly and very very clever! We have learned so much! Year 3 had a wonderful time and laughed a lot,  but myself and Professor McGinty were very impressed by how much the class knew and how well behaved the children all were. Enjoy some of the pictures here!

Building Bridges

June 10, 2010

In Design and Technology this morning, 3AV used newspaper, masking tape and art-straws to create strong bridge structures. I am very impressed with how well the whole class worked. I even tested the bridges with a toy car…and guess what…. they (almost) all supported the car all the way across!

Anthony Browne

June 10, 2010

3AV have been using LAT for the last week to create projects on the Author and Illustrator, Anthony Browne. They all came up with very unique and creative ways of presenting their information.

  • Rowling made a wonderful Anthony Browne presentation using powerpoint and an accompanying poster.
  • Hughes created a wallwsher wall crammed full of information and pictures. Dahl wrote a script for the radio which we will record later for Robin Hood Radio. (www.wallwisher.com/wall/anthonybrownehughes )
  • Milne wrote a script for a TV chat show with audience prompts and everything!

Super work! Well done 3AV.

Half term!

Year 3 staff would like to wish the children and parents a safe and happy half term holiday! Thank-you for another lovely 6 weeks…only 7 more weeks left in year 3.

When we get back we will be continuing our Secret Garden project with Josh. Swimming will continue every Tuesday, PE on a Thursday.

In Literacy we will be writing persuasive letters in the first weeks back. Spellings to learn over half term will be used in our writing!

In History we will continue our topic on the Ancient Greeks. Homework is to complete the Greek Relgion project. Professor McGinty is going to be joining us on June 11th! Very exciting!

In Maths we will be re-visiting time and data collection. Please practise your times tables and mental maths at home!

Have a lovely holiday! :)
